Privacy policy
Last updated 27 October 2026
This policy explains how Ghost Writing Service Ltd (“we”, “us”) collects and uses your personal data when you use this website or ask us for a quote. We are the data controller. Contact us at enquiries@ghostwritingservice.co.uk.
What we collect
- Enquiry details: your name, email, phone number (optional), and the project details you give us in the quote form.
- Project material: if you become a client, interview recordings, notes and drafts, all covered by a non-disclosure agreement.
- Website usage: anonymous, aggregated statistics from cookie-free analytics. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How we use it, and our lawful basis
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote (steps taken at your request before entering a contract).
- To deliver the work if you become a client (contract).
- To keep business and tax records (legal obligation).
- To share your enquiry with a partner writer, only if you tick the consent box on the quote form (consent).
Who we share it with
Partner writers. We sometimes work with trusted partner writers or ghostwriting firms in the UK. If you tick the box on our quote form, we may pass your enquiry to one of them so they can contact you about your project. They must use your details only for that purpose and keep them confidential. If you do not tick the box, we will not share your enquiry. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing us.
Service providers. Our website host, form processing and email providers process data on our behalf under contract.
Spam protection. Our quote form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that it is being filled in by a person, not a bot. To do this, Cloudflare looks at technical signals from your browser and device, such as your IP address. It does not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the form secure.
We never sell your data for marketing, and we never publish your story or details without your written permission.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted after 12 months. Client records are kept for six years after the project ends, for tax and legal reasons. Interview recordings are handed to you and deleted from our systems at the end of a project unless you ask us to keep them.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to how we use it, and receive a copy in a portable format. Email us and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator.
Security
Your data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with providers that meet UK GDPR standards. Access is limited to people who need it.
